Logistics Plans

The following describes the logistics plans for ongoing construction projects that will impact campus pedestrian and vehicular pathways.


Bate to Wright Steam Tunnel

Logistics Details: Most of the construction for this project is confined to the tunnel (underground). Above-grade construction areas will be fenced at and north of the Graham West Side entrance/exit. That exit will be closed for Summer 2026.


Blount Recreational Sports Complex Fields Upgrades

Logistics Details: Construction will take place on the two south and southwestern turf fields of Blount Intramural Complex, as well as the north turf field which will be converted to synthetic turf. The pedestrian greenway that passes through the Blount Complex will remain open and accessible throughout construction.


Brewster Restroom Renovations Phase 1 ADA (A Wing)

Logistics Details: The project area is inside the building; however, external Construction staging (staging and storage area) will be at the main entrance on Ormond Way (facing 10th street). Pedestrian paths around this area will be clearly marked.


Clark LeClair Renovations

Logistics Details: The parking area between Clark-LeClair and Charles Blvd. will be fenced off for contractor parking, staging and storage, as will a portion of the parking lot immediately in front of the Stadium. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic on roads around the stadium will not be impacted.


Cotanche CRAC Unit Replacement Phase 1

Logistics Details: Area of work within the Cotanche Building shall be limited to the east wing of the first floor. Any other access shall be specifically requested and coordinated with project manager. Access to the East Wing shall be provided through the exterior double door nearest the loading area. The contractor is allowed to use limited parking spaces in the Cotanche building parking lot for material staging and storage.


Eakin Student Recreation Center Partial Roof Replacement

Logistics Details: Construction work areas are confined rear staff parking area. This will also serve as the construction staging and storage area and crane utilization lift area. Construction parking area will be in the bus pick up lanes of the 7th street parking area.

Logistics Details: Water Intrusion and Flashing Corrections Phase 2 – Contractor staging and storage area will be in the parking lot to the southwest of the building. Parking and traffic are relocating reserved parking across the street from the East Side of the building in order to have storage for the boom lift.


Flanagan Replace Building Controls

Logistics Details: Construction work areas are confined inside Flanagan building. Contractors will be parked in designated B1 areas located at the bottom lot of College Hill Drive. Any construction material waste will be removed from site every day. Some nighttime and weekend work will take place with ample notice to user groups.


Fletcher Steam Replacement

Logistics Details: Vehicular traffic will not be affected; however, pedestrian traffic is adjusted and will be marked around construction zones. This project is replacing aged steam for Fletcher Resident Hall. It’s a summer 2026 project, starting just after commencement and completing early August 2026.

Indoor Practice Facility

Logistics Details: The Indoor Practice Facility Building Site will be fenced off. This fencing will take up a portion of the parking lot off of Charles Blvd. and the tennis court area. Normal traffic flow will continue outside of the fenced areas.


Jones Residence Hall Renovation

Mendenhall Sewer Piping Replacement

Logistics Details: Construction work area is north of Mendenhall. Staging and storage areas will be located north of the work area. Alternate walking paths will need to be utilized as shown in the diagram above. The multiple use walking path will allow students to walk directly in front of Mendenhall/Student Rec Center on the southern portion of the path. Contractor parking will be in the parking lot between Old Cafeteria and Erwin Building. All trash and debris will be removed from the site daily.


Minges CCP#2 Replace Cooling Towers

Logistics Details: Construction is limited to the cooling tower containment area and existing mechanical room of the Central Chiller Plant located south of Minges Coliseum. Crane access will be coordinated in advance with Athletics, Building 189, and Facilities to ensure no interruptions to ongoing events and business. Staging areas on the Southwest side of the building, with debris being removed from the site daily. Designated contractor parking is on an as-needed basis, will be in the same area as the staging areas, and contractors will provide reserved parking signage.


Minges Coliseum Replace Roof

Logistics Details: Major Portions of the roof will be replaced.  The material staging and storage area and dumpsters will take up some parking (outlined in red) for the duration of the project.  A crane will be on-site at the tennis-court area entrance.


Minges Pool AHU Replacement and Controls

Logistics Details: Construction is limited to the Pool Mechanical Room on top of the roof. Crane access will be coordinated with Athletics, Building 189, and Facilities to ensure no disruption to events. Temporary stairs provided by the contractor will be the east side of the building below the mechanical room, ensuring the Mechanical Room door is not blocked. Contractor parking will be located on the east side of the building with dumpster use in parking spots if needed, with contractor provided reserved parking signage. Staging and storage area/portable toilet will be in the northeast parking lot and will be clearly marked.


Old Cafeteria-Install Steam Manhole and Replace Piping

Logistics Details: The sidewalk directly in front of Old Cafeteria Building will be temporarily closed (signs will indicate alternate routes for pedestrians). A temporary pedestrian crosswalk will be in place between Old Cafeteria Building and Jenkins Art Building. One lane vehicular traffic is expected for the summer only along Faculty Way.


Old Cafeteria Roof Replacement

Science and Technology Pre-Heat Coil Replacement

Logistics Details: Construction work areas are confined to the penthouse of the Science & Technology Building. During delivery of construction materials, a crane will be located on the west side of the building by Howell South, coordination of this will allow all impacted parties ample notice. Contractors will be parked in designated B1 lot at the bottom of College Hill Drive. During summer construction, staging and storage areas will be utilized in the middle courtyard of the building on the northwest corner, ensuring bay doors for construction management is not blocked. If the crane hinders the walking path signage will be placed by the contractor for the alternate walking path.


Speight Envelope Repairs

Tyler Roof Top Unit

Logistics Details: Construction work areas will be confined to roof top of Tyler Residential Hall. During delivery of construction materials, a crane will be located at the yellow segregated parking area of the street. We do not anticipate a storage area for materials. The crane will be utilized on two separate days. One day involving the removal of the old roof top air handler and the other involving the raising and placing of the new air handler. Contractor parking spaces will be utilized in the alley to the rear of Tyler Hall.


Warren Life Energy Recovery AHU-1

Logistics Details: Area of work within the Warren Life Science Building shall be limited to Mechanical Room 155. Any other access shall be specifically requested and coordinated with the project manager. Access to the mechanical room shall be provided through the exterior roll-up door. The contractor is allowed to use the grass area adjacent to the building generator for material staging and storage. The contractor is responsible for providing fencing and security if materials are stored outdoors. Large material deliveries shall be coordinated with the project manager if West Campus Loop lanes need to be blocked. Access to the loading dock area shall be always maintained.


Whichard Building Comprehensive Renovation

Logistics Details: Construction parking, staging and storage areas will be within the fenced area around Whichard Building and Whichard Annex, with the exception of marked contractor parking spaces in the Messick Lot. Pedestrian traffic will need to follow the designated pathways in and around the Trustees Fountain and adjacent buildings.

Bate Classroom Upgrades

Construction Schedule: May through July 2026

Logistics Details: Construction will perform interior classroom upgrades to include new seating, flooring and paint in 4 large classrooms on 1st floor of Bate. Service and loading zone on Founders Dr. located between Bate and Building 43 will be utilized for parking and dumpster location. Temporary parking for unloading materials will be allowed on the pavers near NW corner of Bate Building.

Brewster Stairwell Repairs

Construction Schedule: May through July 2026

Logistics Details: Construction will perform masonry repairs to 4 stairwells at Brewster Building. Contractor will close one stair tower at a time to complete the work while maintaining adequate egress. Signage and barricades will be placed to direct occupants to other exits. Contractor will store all materials inside work area at each stair tower.

Science and Technology Building Canopy Repairs

Construction Schedule: May through July 2026

Logistics Details: Construction will perform permanent repairs to canopy on South side of S&T Building. Work, staging and storage areas will be on the brick paver area on South side of S&T.

Building 165 Roof Replacement
