Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program
East Carolina University encourages participation by MWBE firms and supports UNC system’s policy of ensuring and promoting opportunities for minority businesses.
The University has established a Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program to ensure and promote Equal and increased opportunities for the design and construction community, including businesses owned by ethnic minorities and women that have been historically underutilized to participate in ECU construction projects.
Contractors seeking to offer quality work and services in support of East Carolina University’s mission of education, research and healthcare should contact the NC Department of Administrations HUB Office at 919-807-2330.
Effective July 1, 2009, HUB firms must be certified through the HUB Office to be listed in the database to be counted by local and state entities for HUB participation and the reporting purposes. The HUB Office partnered with our local MWBE Offices to develop and implement SWUC with input and feedback from HUB firms, prime contractors and HUB resource advocates. With the HUB Office facilitating the certification process, local MWBE Offices can focus on providing resources and business development.
Interested parties may contact the HUB Liaison Officer to review and evaluate examples of past successful bid documents.
