Bike Repair Clinics

The ECU Sustainability Program has partnered with ECU Parking and Transportation Office to restart the weekly Bike Repair Clinics.  This is something that the Parking Office used to offer prior to COVID-19.  During the pandemic, the Department could not keep the program going to staff shortages.  We are now relaunching this program in order to encourage ECU students, staff, and faculty to ride a bike to and from campus.

The weekly bike mechanic for this program is Trent Hohenstreiter.  Trent is a graduate student pursuing his Masters of Kinesiology in the College of Health and Human Performance.  He previously attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where he earned his undergraduate degree.  While at IU, Trent participated in the IU Little 500 bike race.  He was the Captain of his team and regularly taught other teammates how to maintain thier road bikes.  Trent has also gained additional bike mechanic experience as an employee of multiple bicycle service shops.

We hope that the added assurance of knowing that someone will be on campus once per week to help people do bike tune-ups will be enough to entice some members of our campus community to choose active transportation for their daily commute.  Stop by the Bike Repair Clinic on Wednesdays from 2pm to 6pm to get your bike tuned up and learn how to do routine maintenance.  These are the services available:

  • Brake Adjustment
  • Chain Lubrication
  • Tire Alignment
  • Overall Inspections
